Mini Rules
-
The maximum
number of players on the field at one time is seven including the keeper
for U-10 and U-8.
- The games will consist of two
25-minute halves with a five-minute break at half time.
- The teams that did not start the
first half will take restart of the second half.
- Unlimited substitution is allowed,
but only during stoppage of play AND on the signal of the referee.
- There is no offside rule for mini
soccer.
- Normal throw-in rules apply, with
one re-throw permitted.
- The keeper may not handle the ball
outside the penalty area for U-10 and outside the goal crease for U-8. A
direct free kick will be awarded for violation of this rule.
- The crease rule is in effect for
the U-8 group. The crease rule does not apply for the U-10 groups.
- Once the keeper has possession of
the ball, they may put the ball back into play by throwing,
placekicking, or punting it. These three methods may also be used to put
the ball back into play when a goal kick has been called.
- An opponent cannot score a goal
from a kick taken inside the goal crease at the U-8 level.
Penalty shots will be taken from
the penalty spot, 10 yards in front of the goal line. - No charging, pushing, tripping,
fighting, or dangerous play is allowed.
- All free kicks are direct and
opponents must be at least 6.5 yards away from the ball.
- The referee will explain all
infractions to the offending players.
- During official refereed games,
coaches, parents, team officials, etc. are not permitted on the field
during the course of play. One coach is allowed on the field at the U-8
level and lower. At the U-10 level, coaches are to coach from the team
area. There will be no coaching from the goal/penalty areas.
- Coaches and parents are not
permitted in the goal/penalty areas during the course of play at any
level.
- Coaches, managers, team officials,
and parents will not criticize the game officials or opposition players
at any time. If warranted, offenders will be asked to leave the field
area. Complaints, comments, and questions should be addressed to the
Field Marshal or to Festival Headquarters.
- This is a mini soccer festival,
not a tournament. The object is to have fun, foster a love of the game,
and promote good sporting behavior between all the participants.
