Soccer By The Sea
Micro Rules
- U-5 will play five per side; U-6 may play up to 7aside.
- The game will consist of two 20-minute halves.
- First ball will go to the first team listed on the game schedule. The teams that did not start the first half will take restart of the second half.
- Unlimited substitution is allowed, but only during stoppage of play AND on the signal of the referee.
- There is no offside rule in micro soccer.
- The keeper will not handle the ball outside the goal crease. A free kick will be awarded for violation of this rule. There will be no penalty kicks in the festival for micro soccer.
- The ball will be considered frozen as soon as the referee determines that the ball is in the possession of the keeper.
- The keeper may put the ball back into play by throwing, placekicking, or punting it. These methods may also be used to put the ball back into play when a goal kick has been called.
- Putting the ball back into play from the touchline maybe by throw-in or kick-in. It will be the player’s choice. Coaches should discuss this rule with the officials before the start of the game.
- The crease rule will apply in micro soccer and an opponent cannot score a goal from inside the crease.
- No goal will be awarded if the ball is above the shoulder height of the keeper.
- All free kicks are direct and players must be at least 6.5 yards from the ball.
- The referee will explain all infractions to the offending players.
- One coach will be allowed on the field during the course of the game. Coaches are not permitted in the goal areas.
- No charging, pushing, tripping, fighting, or dangerous play will be allowed. No criticism of game officials or opposition players will be tolerated. If warranted, offenders will be asked to leave the field area. Complaints, comments and questions should be addressed to Festival Headquarters or to a Field Marshal.
